Grow in Christ + Proclaim the Word + Serve Others
Lent Schedule 2017
9a.m.—We will meet as a church family in the sanctuary to have a thirty minute time of intentional prayer for St. Luke UMC’s congregation and ministries. Each Sunday will be a slightly different prayer experience with a different focus.
4:30p.m.—We will meet for our Lenten Study, Worship In Light of the Cross. This will be a time to discuss the week’s readings as well as a time to have a unique worship experience together.
Ash Wednesday (March 1)
7p.m.—We will meet in the Sanctuary for an Ash Wednesday service. This will be a time of prayer and reflection as we enter the time of Lent together as a church. The service will include the imposition of ashes.
Holy Thursday (April 13)
6p.m.—We will come together for a worship service that focuses on the night of the Last Supper when Jesus washed the feet of the Apostles. We will share the meal together that Jesus instituted on this night.
Good Friday (April 14)
6p.m.—We will meet in the Sanctuary to reflect upon the day in which Jesus was tortured and killed. This service will include silence and personal reflection.
Holy Saturday (April 15)
10a.m. – 1p.m.—Church will be open and there will be materials available to have a self-guided reflection on the day in which Jesus lay in the grave. Reflections will include how the apostle’s may have felt, on how Mary may have felt, and on how we feel knowing what happened on the Friday, but also knowing what happens on Sunday.
